ADH ANNUAL ESSAY COMPETITION

 The Associated Discount House Annual Essay Competition is an event that has the objective of encouraging enlightened discourse and scholarship amongst Nigerian undergraduate students while preparing them for leadership roles through greater awareness of economic and financial issues.

The topic for this year’s competition is “Managing Nigeria’s Public Debt: The Role of Discount Houses”. Submission of entries for the competition shall close on 31st January, 2006.

The Financial Institution Training Centre (FITC) will provide the technical input and grading of the competition, while (AIICO) American International Insurance Company provides the insurance cover.  Students are advised to take part in this competition.

   NATIONAL CONFERENCE: FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC ADO-EKITI

  “Business and Technological Education for Democratic sustenance in Nigeria” is this year’s theme of the Second Annual National Conference Organised by the school of Business Studies Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti. The seminar will take place in the multi-purpose hall of the institution between 7th and 9th February 2006.  Participants are drawn from the academics, professionals, practitioners in Business Engineering, Commerce, Government and Industry.

    INDUCTION 

 The Nigerian Society of Engineers has inducted four members of the Polytechnic Community in the last induction ceremony that took place at the Ariya Garden of Kwara Hotels Limited, Ilorin on Saturday 17th December 2005. The inducted members are Engr.  Abolarin T.S(Mechanical Dept.)  Engr.  Ashaolu   O.R (Works) Engr. Audu T.M(Civil) and Engr Yaru S.S.(Mechanical) they have been inducted into the Corporate Membership Grade (MNSE).

2005/2006  ORIENTATION PROGRAMME

Orientation programme for 2005/2006 academic session was conducted on Thursday 19th January 2006. The Rector was represented by Chief J.O.Ogunshola, Director Institute of Administration who gave the opening remark at the occasion.

Other principal officers present were the Directors of Academic Planning Unit and IJMB Mr. J.A.Oyedepo and Alh. S.O.Sambo, the HOD Computer, Mr. E.K. Olatunji, Chief Security. Officer, Major A.A.Adeoye (Rtd). Director Liaison Office, N.I.Zubair, Mr. Opadiran Deputy Chief Librarian and the host, Director of DSS Mrs Osisanya and her Deputy Arch. Hasssan Alabi. The Student affairs Officer M.O.Adebayo and the (PRO) Moshood T. Amuda coordinated the programme.

ETF MONITORING/VERIFICATION TEAM
 

The ETF (Education Tax Fund) monitoring and verification team visited the Polytechnic on a routine inspection tour on the 16th January 2006 to verify the projects financed by ETF from 1999 to the last time a project of ETF was executed.

Members of the team are Engr. Alokha Sunday, and Messr Morgan Omodu and Adegboyega Kolawole.  The Deputy Rector, Mr. G.T. Olawepo, Director of Works, Engr. Olu Abolude and the PRO of the Polytechnic Mall Moshood Amuda conducted the ETF officials round the projects executed both in the Main and Mini Campus.

    NBTE

 National Board for Technical Education resource inspectors visited the Polytechnic between 23rd and 26th January 2006 for HND Agricultural Engineering (Post Harvest Option).

The three man team was led by Chief O.E. Okafor, others are Dr. I. Rufai and Engr. Nwalor, E.C.  The Rector of the Polytechnic Dr. Yahaya AbdulKareem led the Management team to receive the team at the Conference hall of the Institute of Technology of the Polytechnic.

  THE VOCATIONAL DIGEST

A well researched publication of the Institute of Business and Vocational Studies “The Vocational Digest” a journal for dissemination of vocational knowledge had it’s maiden edition published for August 2005.  (is out for public and academic attention).

The 235 page journal has contributions published in different fields of interest, it ranges from Management, Economy, Public Relations, Communication skills and computerization of organizations. The members of the Editorial Board are: J.A.Ishola, A.O Adewoye, I.A. Abdulraheem, Deji Abolarin, Kolawole F.L and Aremu T.O.

Interested staff willing to be part of this noble achievement should send in their contributions for the next edition to: The chairman/secretary, Research and Publication Committee, Institute of Business and Vocational Studies, Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin.

    BIRTHDAY THANKSGIVING SERVICE

 The Father of our Registrar, Deacon Samuel Adeyemo Ologunde joined the club of octogenarians on Friday 20th January, 2006 at a special thanksgiving service that took place at Ife Oluwa Baptist Church, Offa, to mark his 80th birthday ceremony.

Members of the Polytechnic Community trooped to Offa the venue of the celebration to grace the occasion and give comradial   support to the Registrar, who is one, the children of Deacon Ologunde.

Dignitaries from all works of life were present to grace the occasion, amongst the important dignitaries present was the former Deputy Governor of the State Deacon Sayomi, the secretary to the State Government sent a special message to the celebrant which was read to the hearing of all those present.

We wish papa many happy returns of the day.
